Guess who wants to be a graphic designer when she's older? I love making backgrounds that interact with the icons, start bar, side panel, etc. It's about time I updated my desktop screenshot anyways.

By the way, the censor on the side gadget with the sun on it is my location. It's a weather gadget. For once, sun. It's still cold though, god damn.

Woah, pretty...

It looks very nice! But, I think you should allow some more freedom icon-wise. This is just personal taste, and it depends on the user, but some people add new icons as time passes and it can be bothersome to try and figure out which to remove to make space for the new one.

Then there are people like me who are just plain sloppy. >_> Either way, it looks awesome! I just hope you won't find any more icons to put on it.

Well, I know that. It's just that she wants to be a graphic designer and make things like that, so she could move on to make desktops and such for others as well. That's what I had in mind when commenting.

I like how everything seems to fit together, but it seems a little plain and basic. Build on that concept a bit, methinks.

If I were you, I would practise sig-making or something similar. If you're only using Photoshop to colour your lineart and such, you're only building a few skills and you're not really experimenting with interesting special effects and filter tricks very much.

Yeah, my thing though is I almost NEVER add/remove/move my icons. I understand for other people a desktop like this wouldn't work, but for me it does.
